NBA Update

Lots going on in the NBA.

First and foremost it was David Stern's final time announcing the draft until its handed over to Adam Silver (both Jewish). Hakeem Olajuwon made a surprise appearance. HERE is an interesting article commenting on Stern's draft.

Los Angeles Lakers are starting to show interest in bringing back Jordan Farmar. Click HERE for more.

Jake Cohen did not get drafted but has signed on with the Phoenix Suns for the Summer League as a hopefully to make a NBA team.

Gal Meekel, has signed with the Dallas Mavericks and will be the second ever Israeli player to play in the NBA. He is coming off leading Maccabi Haifa to its first Israel League Championship.

In Dallas, Mekel isn't the only one making news. Mark Cuban is doing his best to bring in prized free agent Dwight Howard. HERE is an article discussing his recent meeting with Howard.

Omri Casspi has become an unrestricted free agent as he has not been tendered a qualifying offer by the Cleveland Cavilers. But in good news he has been working with Tamir Goodman all summer to inspire Jewish kids through basketball.

Brad Greenberg, straight off his championship season with Maccabi Haifa, might be looking to return to the NBA. HERE is more on the story.

Former Israeli Players look to make moves as well. Will Bynum is a free agent and has been linked to the Chicago Bulls and returning to the Pistons. Alan Anderson is also a free agent and has been linked to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Summer league teams are shaping up as well with former Israeli players. Tennessee Alum and recently of Hapoel Eilat Scotty Hopson will play for the Miami Heat. Also announced  Austin Freeman of Maccabi Ashdod will play for the Pacers. The Washington Wizards have invited Frank Hassell of Hapoel Holon to play for them this summer.
